This generally means a collection of services which are: designing, building, testing and hosting a website including setting up the domain name to point to the website so that when someone types www.yourcompany.com in their web browser they will see the website.

Domain Registration
What is a "Domain Name"?
A Domain Name is a singular name that works as identifier for a website on the Internet. Each Domain Name therefore is a unique address indicating a location on the Internet. The domain name is used as part of a website address (e.g. www.mydomain.com) or email address (e.g. info@mydomain.com).
How do I get a Domain Name?
The first person to think of a domain name and register it gets it. Thus, it is a good idea to register a domain name as soon as you decide you want a web presence for your company. You can do this a long time before you actually build the site. If it is still available, you can register a domain name for about ₦5,000 per year. By getting your domain registered in your name or your company's name, you become the legal owner of your domain name.
What are the Domain Naming Rules:
A domain name can include up to 63 characters. You can use numbers, letters, and dashes/hyphen (-) in your domain name but it cannot start or end with a hyphen (-). Domains cannot contain spaces between words. Special characters such as the underscore (_), exclamation (!), and the (@) sign are also not permitted. Domain Names are not case sensitive - therefore you can quote your domain or email address in mixed cases to highlight any part of it (e.g. MyDomain is the same as mydomain or MYDOMAIN). Web Hosting
What is "Web Hosting "?
This involves paying a company to store your web site files on their server so that your website can be accessed from anywhere in the world via the internet. Since your website has to be up 24/7 the servers are constantly on but sometimes develop faults and have to be shut down for maintenance, that is why genuine web hosting companies can not guarantee 100% uptime. Web hosting can cost several thousands of Naira per year, depending on the facilities you require such as scripting, database etc.
How much does "Web Hosting " cost?
This can be free, or can cost several thousands of Naira per year, depending on which ISP you use and the facilities you require. You will find that most free web space (e.g. Yahoo geocities, Tripod etc) does not have the facilities you need, such as the ability to run scripts or databases with your site. Most free web space companies do not allow business sites to be hosted with them, and some insist on placing their own banner ads on your site. CMS's are generally used for features like Blogs, Guest books, Forums, News and Articles etc and are generally for websites that require more than one update per week. The main purpose of the CMS is to give the owner easy to use flexible control over frequently changing information without the hazard of damaging the website structure.
What are "Web Site Statistics" ?
These are generally information about how your website is being used. Just like the one at the bottom of this page, you can have a "Hit Counter" which tells you how many people have visited your site. We can also provide more detailed user information such as what your visitors look at look at while visiting, the time of day they visit and what country they are browsing from.
